CAMP LEJEUNE JUSTICE ACT OF 2022
MJA has begun accepting clients in anticipation of the passage of the “Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022”. Once signed into law, this legislation will create a federal cause of action for individuals harmed by exposure to contaminated drinking water at MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River, North Carolina to sue and recover damages.

To be eligible for the lawsuit, an individual must have resided, worked, or was otherwise exposed (including in utero exposure) to water at Camp Lejeune for at least 30 days between August 1, 1953 and December 31, 1987. Eligibility criteria are:

1. Lived or worked at MCB Camp Lejeune or MCAS New River between August 1953 and December 1987. The areas affected cover all of Camp Lejeune including Camp Geiger, Camp Johnson / Montford Point, Tarawa Terrace, Holcomb Boulevard, Paradise Point, Hadnot Point, Onslow Beach, MCAS New River, Stone Bay Rifle Range, and Camp Lejeune Greater Sandy Run;

2. Exposed to water for at least thirty days during that period. This includes Marines permanently stationed at Camp Lejeune and Marines who attended Marine Combat Training (MCT), Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training, or other professional schools at Camp Lejeune. It also includes dependent spouses and children, DoD employees, and civilian contractors who worked on base; AND

3. Have been diagnosed with or experienced a medical condition, including but not limited to:

Bladder cancer
Breast cancer
Esophageal cancer
Female infertility
Hepatic steatosis (fatty liver disease)
Kidney cancer
Leukemia
Lung cancer
Miscarriage
Multiple myeloma (cancer in the white blood cells / plasma cells)
Myelodysplastic syndromes
Neurobehavioral effects
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Renal toxicity
Scleroderma (systemic sclerosis)

Once the bill is passed into law, any claim for damages must be filed within 2 years.
